Willie's Off-Brand Web Journal: January 24-February 3, 2005
Wednesday, January 26, 2005:
The Subservient Chicken is the scariest thing I've seen in a long, long time.
No, I hadn't seen it before. I have a life, you people.
Yes, it's a life that's spent watching director commentaries and reading interviews with former members of The Dead Milkmen. What's your question?
CURRENT MUSIC: Utopia Parkway by Fountains of
Wayne.
CURRENT MOOD:
That monster's
gonna give me nightmares.
FUNNIEST RESPONSE I HEARD TO THE STORY ABOUT
THE FLORIDA
MAN WHO BOUGHT A $17,000 NEWSPAPER AD TO BEG HIS WIFE TO COME BACK TO
HIM: Alex at work said, "You know, to pay $17,000, he has to have done
something really awful. That's not like, 'Honey, I forgot to take the trash
out.' That's like, 'Honey, I slept with your sister.'"

Monday, January 24, 2005:
So. Desiccant Records: Do Not Eat! is now partnered with Maelstrom PR. Curtis Smith is, like, the nicest guy in the entire world, so I dare any music journals or publications to say "no" to him for any reason. And he's apparently a man who likes a challenge, because he's taken on the duty of turning Disclaimer into an indie success regardless of my lack of talent and rank odor! Seriously? Really cool guy, Curt. I'm psyched.
...And having a full-fledged PR juggernaut at my disposal has removed the hairy clog in my creative juices pipeline and I'm back to recording "music." My goal is to have the next Disclaimer album, tentatively entitled Welcome to Cooterville, released by early 2006.
Meh. Alright. Stated a goal. Time for a nap.
CURRENT MUSIC: Halber Mensch by Einsturzende Neubauten.
CURRENT MOOD: Kinda sleepy.
MY COMMENT ABOUT THE OSCAR NOMINATIONS THAT SEEMS TO HAVE GONE O'ER REASONABLY
WELL: "Jim Carrey wasn't nominated because, apparently, the Academy only
has two open acting slots for In Living Color alumni... and they decided
to fill them both with Jamie Foxx." Zing! Get Bruce Vilanch on the phone!
He's got competition!
TIME: 6:11 PM.
